Mastic asphalt has a long and successful history as a waterproofing medium. It is one of of the oldest and most reliable building products known to man.

Noah’s Ark was ‘caulked with pitch and sand’, a contemporary version of mastic asphalt.

Tutankhamen’s tomb was encased in ‘an asphaltic compound’. The tomb stayed watertight for over 2000 years.

Sir Christopher Columbus reportedly waterproofed his boat using a form of mastic asphalt. Sir Walter Raleigh originally discovered the famous Trinidad Lake of Asphalt in 1595.Asphalt Lake in Trinidad

Mastic asphalt is patented by Frenchman in 1860.

Mastic asphalt is an ideal material for a whole range of construction applications, both new build and refurbishment, where a smooth, seamless, durable surface is required. It offers total waterproofing integrity for roofing and tanking and acts as a tough working surface in flooring and paving.

Mastic asphalt is one of the world’s most traditional construction materials and has continued to develop with the times, even in today’s hi-tech building industry.
